Wilmington is the county seat of New Hanover County. It is a city in the State of North Carolina and located in the southeastern part of North Carolina. It also houses several tourist attractions like the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial and Airlie Gardens and the State University of North Carolina and Cape Fear Museum.

The city also has a historic importance. It is a convenient location for after the beach for a few minutes drive from the triangle of the so-called compound Durham, Chapel Hill and Raleigh. Other nearby attractions include the Myrtle Beach, Charlotte, SC and the ᳣ corridor.
